Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 11, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to VOXA (“we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the VOXA mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using VOXA, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, display name, and optional profile photo. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile information from Google.
2.2 Voice Content
VOXA is a voice-first platform. We collect and store voice recordings you create, including voice posts (up to 20 seconds), voice replies, and voice bios. When additional features become available (such as voice chat and voice reviews for places), the same principle applies to recordings created through those features. These recordings are stored on our servers to deliver the Service.
2.3 Usage Data
We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including posts you listen to, reactions, bookmarks, follow/unfollow actions, and app navigation patterns.
2.4 Device & Technical Data
We may collect device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and crash reports (via Sentry) to improve app stability and performance.
2.5 Location Data
If and when you use location-based features (such as the upcoming Places feature), we may collect your approximate location to show nearby places. Location access is always optional and can be revoked through your device settings. VOXA does not collect location data unless you explicitly opt in.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Deliver voice posts and notifications
- Personalize your feed and content recommendations
- Send push notifications (which you can disable)
- Monitor and analyze usage trends and app performance
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues
- Enforce our Terms and Conditions
4. Third-Party Services
VOXA uses the following third-party services:
- Supabase — Backend infrastructure including authentication, database (PostgreSQL), file storage for voice recordings and avatars, and real-time features.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — Push notification delivery only. We do not use Firebase for authentication or data storage.
- Google Sign-In — Optional OAuth authentication.
- Sentry — Error and crash reporting to improve app stability.
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — Map data and place search for the Places feature.
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing the use of your information.
5. Data Storage & Retention
Your data is stored on Supabase-managed servers. Voice recordings are stored in secure cloud storage buckets. We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
When you request account deletion, your account enters a 30-day soft-delete period. During this time, your content is hidden from other users and you can reactivate your account by logging back in. After 30 days, all your personal data — including voice recordings, profile information, and activity history — is permanently and irreversibly deleted, except where retention is required by law.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Public Content — Voice posts, profile information, and place reviews you make public are visible to other users.
- Service Providers — With trusted third-party services listed above, solely to operate the Service.
- Legal Requirements — When required by law, regulation, or legal process.
- Safety — To protect the rights, safety, or property of VOXA, our users, or the public.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for data processing
- Object to data processing for certain purposes
To exercise these rights, please use the account deletion option in the app settings or contact us directly.
8. Cookies & Local Storage
The VOXA mobile app uses local storage (SharedPreferences and secure storage) to store your theme preference, language setting, authentication tokens, and onboarding status. The VOXA website uses essential cookies for language preference and theme selection only.
9. Children’s Privacy
VOXA is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the app or on our website. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
